Christmas Letter

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas holiday. This was our first Christmas back in our hometown since 2008 for my husband and myself and the first for our kids. Needless to say it was super exciting. With excitement later comes exhaustion and exhausted is what I am. I spent today trying to reclaim my house and my diet. Did anyone else fall off the deep end and indulge more than they should have on holiday baked goods? I will be the first to say that I did fall off the deep end and my body is telling me all about it. My brain has been scattered, my attitude not so good, I have had a terrible headache, and am very fatigued. Also my sugar cravings are back because of all the sugar I have consumed. All I want to do is sleep and eat. I’m reminded of how much my diet affects my body mentally and physically. The next couple of days I will have to make sure to drink lots of water and get back on track so I will feel better and remain in good health. Even though I may regret my food choices this Christmas I did have a wonderful time and made lots of great memories. It was so nice to share this season with family and to watch my children’s faces light up with joy as they were showered with love and kindness from those around them.
I really enjoyed sharing the gift of Christ with my kids this year. My oldest is 4 and can understand things more this year. I read advent verses to them every day and we discussed them. I find myself learning so much about the love of Christ by explaining things to her in preschool terms. The story of Christ’s immaculate conception to his birth in a dirty stable is one I have heard time and time again but something about looking into the eyes of a 4 and 2 year old and explaining it all down to the tiniest details makes you really realize how amazing God is and how thankful I am for the birth of my Savior. Sometimes it’s hard not to get wrapped up in the material things of Christmas like the mad rush mall shopping, the lights, and the tree. I encourage you to remember the most precious gift of all and the responsibility we have to share this gift with others and our own children.
I hope your Christmas was wonderful and I hope your New Year is filled with many blessing as you strive to glorify Christ.
